The highlights of the 5-day motorcycle tour to the northern Vietnam includes such experiences as visit Mai Chau villages, homestay in a local stilt house, riding in the mountain from Mai Chau to Moc Chau highlands. Riding motorcycle along the Black river from Moc Chau to Phu Yen, Yen Bai. Biking from Phu Yen to Vu Linh also offers great experience for motorbikers. You will also enjoy a boat trip on Thac Ba lake, Yen Bai.

Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau valley (L,D)

Leaving Hanoi and breaking out of the delta plains we pass through endless limestone karst scenery as we travel south through “Perfume Pagoda” country and extensive farming lands comprising a sea of paddy fields split by tree-lined roads. After a picnic lunch near Chi Ne, we visit the hot springs at Kim Boi, before striking northwest and over two passes, finally dropping down to the mountain valley settlement of Mai Chau. Here we stay overnight with friends of the White Thai minority in a traditional stilt house.

In the evening, we can enjoy a cultural show of Thai dancing and a range of special local liquors.

Day 2: Mai Chau – Moc Chau (B,L,D)

In the morning we can explore the village and the surrounding area by foot. Life in the countryside starts early so by sunrise there is a wealth of activity.

After breakfast we head out on the highway before forking off the main road onto an old French colonial road which has become abandoned. This old road used to serve the northwest in the days of little motorised transport but became disused from 1994 when Hoa Binh Dam was opened and the Black River (Song Da) valley was subsequently flooded, eradicating the road to Hanoi. We pass steadily upwards through areas inhabited by Thai peoples, followed by the Dao and H’Mong ethnicities at higher altitudes. The road surface is by no means smooth but the winding route offers magnificent views out over 6 ranges of mountains. In mid-afternoon we rejoin the main highway and travel on good winding sealed road to Moc Chau – famous for dairy products, tea, a massive cave, and a waterfall.

Day 3: Moc Chau – Phu Yen (B,L,D)

On the third day we backtrack on the main a few kilometres before embarking on a new road which drops down the side of a huge valley, steadily falling all the way back down to the Black River Reservoir. The 50 kilometres route has plenty of challenging surface and is prone to landslides. Much of the area is inhabited by Kinh and both Black and White Thai ethnicities. Depending on time we can complete another side road which rises up the opposite side of the valley, offering impressive views over the area on a clear day. Just before the reservoir we breach a final steep ascent and pass by communes of Dao people, before the descent to the banks of the reservoir and a ferry crossing. Once across we follow the banks of the reservoir past village all relocated before the flooding of the valley. On easy dirt road we approach the delta settlement of Phu Yen, set in the middle of a vast valley floor of paddy fields.

Overnight in Phu Yen.

Day 4: Phu Yen – Vu Linh (B,L,D)

We have two options: one takes us around the very end of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, enjoying good riding on winding sealed mountain roads; the other crosses over the very end of the range and takes us through untarnished rain forest on challenging, rocky road. (The Hoang Lien Son mountain range is the main range of northwest Vietnam and also includes the highest peak – Fansipan). From Ba Khe we continue on sealed road through renowned tea growing areas, where the hillsides are literally covered in plantations, all the way to the city of Yen Bai which sits on the Red River. From here it’s a short ride to the edge of Thac Ba Lake, also formed by the construction of hydroelectricity dam in the 1970s. We load the bikes and take a boat for an hour’s journey across the clear waters to the Dao village of Vu Linh where we stay for the night, enjoying Dao hospitality.

Day 5: Vu Linh – Hanoi (B,L)

After breakfast we cruise southeast on Highway 2 and then branch off to the sleepy town of Phu Tho. We follow the edge of the Red River along the dyke, almost to the point where it merges with the Black River after which they flow together to Hanoi. By now we are very much in the lowlands of the delta plains and the north’s main agricultural areas. Harvest time here is a sea of activity. Crossing the Black River by bridge, we pass through Son Tay and then return to Hanoi on the highway.

Arrive in Hanoi in the afternoon. End trip.

Vietnam is home of small, moped scooters and motorcycles where lots of motorcycle clubs are available.

There is almost one or two motorcycle in every city of Vietnam. The biggest motorcycle clubs are located in the two major cities Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city.

Most of the Vietnam motorcycle clubs are categorized by the type of motorbike or scooters. There are such motorcycle club as Honda Fortune Motorcycle club, Honda FX 125cc motorcycle club, high capacity motorcycle club, Russian Minsk Club…

There is also a club of Old Vespa scooters in Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh city.

The Hanoi motorcycle club includes over hundred members having a wide selection of high capacity motorbikes such as touring motorcycles, cruiser, naked motorbikes and sport motorbikes.

Most of the bikes being used in Vietnam are under 150cc. Those who have any motorbike with its capacity of over 150cc should join Vietnam official motorcycle club.

The motorbike clubs usually organizes offline parties where club members have the opportunity to show off their beloved bikes.

Northern Vietnam Multisport Tour Trekking Sapa Vietnam and Sea Kayaking Halong Bay (10 days)

Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi. Transfer Airport – Hotel.

On arrival at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, you will be greeted by Lotussia local guide and driver then transferred to your hotel in town.

Ha Noi, Vietnam’s Capital, is a stylish and gracious city that retains an unique old world charm and some Asia’s most striking colonial architecture. The many lakes and parks make for relaxing atmosphere.

The rest time of the day is free at leisure. A special welcome dinner will be provided in one of most typical Vietnamese restaurant in town. O/N in Ha Noi.

Day 2: Hanoi – Battrang - Vanphuc – Laocai.

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Bat Trang pottery village which is located around 20km from Hanoi city center. Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Vietnam countryside and agricultural activities along the road. Upon arrival at Bat Trang village, we visit some pottery workshop to see how the skiful local people make these beautiful pottery. Around noon, we return to Hanoi downtown for lunch (at your own account). In the afternoon, we will go further South Hanoi to visit the most famous silk village in the country, Van Phuc Silk village. Free time for shopping and admire their handmade products. Return to Hanoi and enjoy one hour foot massage to have another authentic experience.

Around 20h00, our driver and our guide will drive you Hanoi Railway Station for the night train to Laocai. O/N on the train.

Day 3: Laocai – Sapa – Tavan.

06:00 – Arrive at Lao Cai train station. Welcome by Lotussia local guide and driver. Transfer to Sapa for breakfast and a short relax after the night train. Then, we will take a jeep ride for the first part and go down hill to Muong Hoa valley to visit 2 villages of the H’mong and the Dzay (Lao chai village and Tavan village). Lunch will be provided at a family of the Dzay minority. O/N at local house – Homestay.

Day 4: Tavan – Sapa.

Get up early in the morning for fresh atmosphere in the countryside. Breakfast and continue hiking to the next village of the Red Dzao minority (Giang Ta Chai village). We will visit a beautiful silver waterfall and a nice rattan bridge. We cross then the river and go up to the mountain for Su Pan village before taking our jeep to come back to Sapa. Check in hotel. O/N in Sapa.

Day 5: Sapa – Laocai – Hanoi.

Breakfast at hotel. We will visit a village of the black H’mong (Catcat village) We walk around this small village to see how the Hmong live in such pour condition. We pass the hydroelectric power station built by the French in the old days. Then we go back uphill to Sapa town for lunch. We have the whole afternoon free to do some shopping or just enjoy the fresh mountain air before we take our car to go downhill to Laocai Station. We will take the night train back to Hanoi.

Day 6: Arrival in Hanoi early morning. Transfer Hanoi – Halong. Kayaking.

The train will arrive in Hanoi at around 5AM in the morning. You will be welcome again by Lotussia local guide and driver then transfer to a restaurant in town for breakfast and a short relax after the long train journey. At around 8h30, we drive to Ha Long City, approximately 3 hours away. Once at Ha Long City you will board our boat starting our marvelous cruise of this stunning area, stopping along the way to visit one of the limestone caves in the area. As we cruise our boat staff will serve a sumptuous local seafood lunch on boat. In the afternoon, we will start our kayaking trip through beautiful small islets until we arrive at Titop beach. Swimming and enjoy the view of sunset in middle of Halong Bay, the 8th World Wonder! Dinner and O/N on board.

Day 7: Halong Kayaking.

Breakfast on board. Then we continue kayaking zigzagging through many small islets of different shapes. We will kayak to the Black Grottoe and The lake of Three Grottoe. The journey is really wonderfull and adventurous! Back to the support boat for our lunch which will be provided on board. In the afternoon, we cruise towards the Islands of Rocks and visit the Fishermen floating village. We will kayak in Ba Men temple area which is also a important highlight of our journey. Swimming at the sandy Three Peach beach and enjoy the great view of Halong bay sunset. Dinner and O/N on board.

Day 8: Halong Kayaking.

Breakfast on board. We continue our cruise towards Trong Grotto and then the Virgin Grotto where our support boat will drop us down for another kayaking excursion. We will kayakin in this area until noon. Then we get on our suppot boat again for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, we get on our kayak again to go through many other rocks and islets of strange and fun shapes. We also kayak through Luon cave which is quite long and dark giving you an unique kayaking experience. Late afternoon, we will take a swim at Soi Sim beach. Dinner and O/N on board.

Day 9: Halong – Hanoi. Free afternoon.

Breakfast on board. Then we cruise towards Bai Tu Long bay, through the area where one important part the film “Indochina” was made. Visit Halong local market before heading Halong pier to get in our vehicle for our journey back to Hanoi. We will arrive in Hanoi at around 15h00. The rest of the day is free for your personal discovery or leisure. O/N in Hanoi.

Day 10: Hanoi Departure. End.

Trek Cao Son Sapa and Kayak Halong Bay Vietnam (14 days)

Day 1: Arrive Hanoi

Upon arrival at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi via flight ???, you will be greeted by Lotussia Travel guide, driver then escorted to your hotel in town. The rest of the day is free at leisure.

Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi full day sightseeing tour. Hanoi – Laocai (B).

Breakfast at hotel, then we will have a full day tour of Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi. Hanoi is a unique city with tree-lined boulevards, French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and oriental temples. The city tour includes such sights as the Ho Chi Minh stilts house, One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature – The first National University of Vietnam.

In the afternoon, continue to visit the Ethnology museum where you can find the biggest object collection of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups.

In the evening, transfer to Hanoi Railways Station for overnight train to Laocai. Departure at 21:00 (TBA).

Day 3: Arrive Laocai early this morning. Drive to Cao Son. Half day trek (B,L,D).

Arrive Lao Cai Railway Station early this morning. You will be met up by Lotussia Travel local team and transferred to a local restaurant for breakfast. After few minutes resting, the driver will take you to Muong Khuong district, via tea plantation and forest of pine. You might encounter Giay tribe in their traditional dress in Ban Lau or Thanh Binh. Reaching Cao Son about 10.am. Check in Cao Son lodge and relax.

In the afternoon you will commence your walk to the most secluded yet peaceful village – Tin Thang. In this village, people still distill the wine from corn, making bacon in the most basic way and offering special corn cake to anyone who drop by their house.

Back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Visit Cao Son Wednsday market. Travel to Sapa (B,L).

After having breakfast in the Cao son lodge, you will walk on a good paved road with local ethnic minority people to go to Cao Son market. Pine trees forests and villages surround the tinny market. Flower H’mong, Tu Di, Tay, Giay ethnic minorities come to buy and sell local products such as food and material for agriculture and fabric. People coming to the market not only for selling or buying something but also importantly to meet friends, relative and to sip some cups of wine until the dawn comes. No where else but here, Flower H’mong people greet you with a temptation of corn wine and endless hospitality. After exploring the market, you will be able to visit a village of Flower H’mong or a village of Tay people. You will then head back to Muong Khuong and have lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch, you get on the car for journey to Sapa.

Overnight in Sapa.

Day 5: Trekking Sapa – Tavan village (B,L,D).

After breakfast, start your trek through the market and leave the busy town behind. After a couple of minutes, you follow a road going downhill to Cat Cat village. You will stop by a waterfall and a hydroelectric station for a while before you trek on a dirt trail through rice paddy terraces. You also will enjoy spectacular scenery while walking along a narrow river. You eventually arrive in Y Linh Ho village of Black Hmong minority, where you can take a rest while you are served lunch nearby the river.

After lunch, you head Muong Hoa valley. You will pass through Lao Chai village of Black Hmong minority and then Tavan village of Giay minority by following a very popular trekking route. You will spend the night in local house of Giay minority. You will be able to take a walk to enjoy the valley view as well as swim in the river nearby.

Day 6: Trekking Tavan – Seomity (B,L,D)

After having breakfast, you start today’s trek, which is mostly uphill until lunchtime. Whenever you stop for a rest, you will be able to enjoy valley view. Before noon, you stop again at a nice spot for lunch.

The trek will be softer in the afternoon. But the scenery becomes even more beautiful. You pass by
Seomity village of Black Hmong minority before you arrive in a campsite, which locates nearby a
river outside the village. While porters put up tents and cook dinner, you can take a walk to stretch
the legs.

Day 7: Trekking Seomity – Ta Trung Ho (B,L,D)

The trek today takes you through beautiful rice paddies and over old suspension bridges. You will trek on small trail sneaking through rainforest. You arrive in Den Thang village of Black Hmong by noon. Here you stop for lunch either nearby a river or in a local school according to the weather.

After lunch, the trek will becomes tough on tinny footpath going up and down, which requires a lot of concentration. You will reach to Ta Trung Ho village of Red Dao minority where you spend the night in local house. Both the valley and the village have just received foreign visitors. The night will be even more interesting when you are in the wonderful hospitable atmosphere of the Red Dao.

Day 8: Trekking Ta Trung Ho – Thanh Phu (B,L,D)

You are now at the fringe of the rain forest by the Hoang Lien Son mountain range. Fansipan, the highest peak in Indochina with its 3143 m, is located in this mountain range. You will start the trek today by ascending to Nam Toong village of Red Dao minority. Here your lunch will be prepared in a local school.

After lunchtime, you descend to the valley where locates My Son village of Xa Pho minority, one of the smallest groups ethnic in Northern Vietnam. From there you take a short walk to Thanh Phu village of Tay minority. Here you spend the night in traditional house of the Tay. You can take a walk to explore local daily life while your dinner will be served with Vietnamese dishes.

Day 9: Trekking Thanh Phu – Su Pan. Drive to Sapa, Laocai. Return to Hanoi (B,L).

Today’s trek is relatively short compared to other days. On the last day of the trek you will cross several suspension bridges. You will be able to stop by a waterfall and have time to swim in the river before arriving in Ban Ho village of Tay minority. Here you stop for lunch in a traditional Tay house.

In the afternoon, you start climbing uphill. On the last hours you can enjoy the valley one final time while heading to Su Pan. Here your car takes you on the journey back to Sapa where you can have a short rest before travelling to Laocai to take night train back to Hanoi.

Day 10: Arrive Hanoi. Travel to Halong bay. Cruise + kayaking (B,L,D).

Arrive in Hanoi in the early morning, transfer to a local restaurant in town for breakfast.

Enjoy the journey through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and everyday Vietnamese village life. Arrive in Halong and board the Bai Tho traditional sailing junk (or similar junk). Whilst cruising the exquisite waters sample the regions fresh seafood. Visit the recently discovered Surprise Grotto with its great views, and on the next island see the yawning mouth of Bo Nau Cave. Alternatively journey to Dau Go Cave and nearby see the famous stalagmites and stalactites of Thien Cung Cave. Enjoy a swim in the emerald waters of Halong Bay at any spot that you wish to visit or take a kayaking trip to explore the Bay. Watch the sun set over the bay whilst enjoying a delicious dinner.

Overnight on board junk.

Day 11: Halong bay cruise + kayaking (B,L,D).

Breakfast on board. Then we continue cruise. Lunch will be provided on board. In the afternoon, enjoy one more hour kayaking towards the Islands of Rocks or Ba Men temple (Paddling routes may change due to weather or other circumstances. Further details will be informed by our local guide before the trip).

Dinner and Overnight on board.

Day 12: Halong bay – Hanoi

Disembark at the dock at Halong City at 11:00 and return to Hanoi.

Upon arrival in Hanoi, enjoy a short cyclo excursion through the bustling old quarter streets named after the specific goods once offered for sales at these places.

In the evening, attend to the water puppet show, one of famous Vietnamese traditional art.

Day 13: Full day free

Full day free at leisure. No service to be provided by Lotussia Travel except hotel accommodation and breakfast.

Day 14: Departure

Breakfast at hotel. Then stay free at leisure until transfer to Noibai airport for onward flight back home (check out at 12:00). Flight ???. End trip.

Day 02: Hanoi full day city tour. Overnight in Hanoi.

Breakfast at hotel. Then we will have a full day tour of Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi. Hanoi is a unique city with tree-lined boulevards, French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and oriental temples. The city tour includes such sights as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (closed on Monday and Friday), One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature – The first National University of Vietnam.

In the afternoon, continue to visit the Ethnology museum where you can find the biggest object collection of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups. In the evening, attend to the water puppet show, one of famous Vietnamese traditional art. Overnight in Ha Noi.

Day 03: Ha noi – Mai Chau. Trekking. Homestay in house-on-stilts.

Transfer to Mai Chau. Mai Chau is in a valley just over the biggest hump, about 10km from the Song Da river and only 150 metres above sea level. The village, nestled between two towering cliffs and surrounded by emerald green paddies, is an enchanting sight as you wind down the cliff side. On the way, trek some kilometers through ethnic villages (Muong and Thai). Lunch will be providd in Mai Chau. Dinner and overnight in Lac village.

Day 04: Mai Chau – Suoi Lon. Trekking. Homestay at village

After breakfast, transfer 17 kilometers then we start trekking in an area of inhabitants of ethnic minority Thai, Muong the villages of Cun Pheo and Hang Kia. On arriving at Bai Sang wharf, we will take a boat to cruise on the Black river. Arrive at Suoi Lon for overnight in Muong’ Village.

Day 05: Suoi Lon – Bac Yen – Thu Cuc. Trekking. Homestay at village.

Transfer to Ta Sua plateau, you can contemplate the highland scenery of it. Visit some villages of ethnic Black H’mong and discover the daily life and custom of local inhabitants here, especially you can enjoy the local specialties: Ta Sua Tea and agriculture products then come back the mountain town for lunch. After having lunch, visit the local market, the handicraft and farming products made by many ethnics are available here. Then continue to trek over 5 Kilometers through villages of Thai and Muong village. During the trekking you can take a rest and enjoy the local wine distillated by ethnics. Transfer to Thu cuc. Overnight in Muong Village.

Day 06: Thu Cuc – Nghia Lo. Trekking. Overnight at local guesthouse.

Trek through Thai, Dao, Mong visit the water wheel. It is used to scoop the water for the rice fields near the streams. Continue going to Nghia Lo through the direction of Lung Lo pass. Arrive at Nghia Lo, check in hotel then take a visit the local market at the moment of decline of day.

Day 07: Nghia Lo – Tu Le. Trekking. Homestay at village.

Leave Nghia Lo for the itinerary, trek and visit some villages of ethnic’s minorities along the road: black Dzao, H’mong, white Thai, etc. They are very kind, honest and plain. Arrive at Tu Le village, dinner and overnight in house on stilt of inhabitants here. You can discover the daily life activities of this village in particular and the Thai ethnic in general in Vietnam. Overnight in Thai Village.

Day 08: Tu Le – Mu Cang Chai – Than Uyen. Trekking. Overnight at local guesthouse.

Take leave of inhabitants of Tu Le, it takes 2 Km to village center, you can visit lots of activity on the early market day and it is typical colorful ethnics of this high mountain regions. Transfer to the the footing of Kau Pha pass for us to start trekking about 9 Km through the forest and ethnic villages. This trail runs parallel with the famous and beautiful Kau Pha pass. We finish the trail at the peak of the pass (1800m above sea level). Transfer to Mu Cang Chai for lunch. Visit the local market and go on to Than Uyen. Arrive at Than Uyen, check in local guest house.

Day 09: Than Uyen – Binh Lu – Sapa. Trekking. Overnight at hotel.

Transfer to Sapa, on the way, we can take trek to visit lots of beautiful villages of ethnic. Especially, you can meet the most typical ethics as: Lao, Lu (Xa Pho). They wear the long traditional and colorful costumes with jeweler hand made. Moreover, you can discover the kind face in black dyed teeth of ethnics here. Arrive at Sa Pa. Check in and rest of the day at leisure or visit Sa Pa famous tourist town in Northern Vietnam . You can visit and go shopping, market for buying souvenirs such as handicraft made by ethics, ethics’ traditional costumes, etc before ending the days in North West Vietnam.

Day 10: Sapa – Cao Son Wednsday Market – Laocai – Hanoi. Overnight train.

Drive to Muong Khuong district, via tea plantation and forest of pine. You might encounter
Giay tribe in their traditional dress in Ban Lau or Thanh Binh. Reaching Cao Son about 10.am, enjoy
the excitement of this weekly market. The shining dress of colorful Hmong girls attracts you much as
you fall down to a new world , a world of interest and fun. Having lunch in Cao Son lodge. In the afternoon, commence your walk to the most secluded yet peaceful village- Tin Thang. In this village,
people still distill the wine from corn, making bacon in the most basic way and offering special corn
cake to anyone who drop by their house. Transfer to Lao Cai Railways Station for overnight train back to Hanoi.

Day 11: Arrival in Hanoi. Hanoi – Halong Bay. Cruise + kayaking (pm). Overnight on board

Day 2: Hanoi full day sightseeing tour.

Breakfast at hotel. Then we start the sightseeing tour of Hanoi capital with the most important city’s highlights including the Ho Chi Minh Complex(*), containing the mausoleum of the nation’s founder Ho Chi Minh, the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh’s house on stilts. This complex also comprises the One Pillar Pagoda, whose origins date back to the foundation of city. We follow this with a trip to the Temple of Literature, which is well known as the first university of Vietnam and the impressive Ethnology Museum, dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. Free lunch in town. In the afternoon, we continue exploring the old town of Hanoi with the History Museum with an excellent collection of artifacts illustrating the Vietnamese history, the peaceful lake of Hoan Kiem and Ngoc Son temple. Day 3: Hanoi – Maichau. Half day walking around

Depart for Hoa Binh province and up then to Mai Chau valley. This scenic drive takes around four hours. Along the way we pass fields of tapioca and sugar cane as well as rice paddies. Free lunch.

In the afternoon, enjoy a half day walking around Lac & Poom Coong villages to have the first sights of the White Thai community culture.

Day 4: Maichau – Ninh Binh. River boat trip.

After lunch (optional), visit the two remaining sanctuaries of the ancient citadel of Dinh & Le, then countinue driving to Tam Coc, also called Halong-Bay-On-Land. Upon arrival in Tam coc, we will have a short rest before taking a 2-hour boat trip along the Boi river. The river trip in Tam coc is wonderful for photo hunters, especially when local people come to harvest the water rice planted along the river, or when they transplant some seedling for the next crops. The tourists often compare the place with Guilin – China, or more closely, to the limestone islets of Halong Bay in the Tonkin Gulf for their similar geological structures and shapes. Day 5: Ninh Binh – Halong Bay. Kayaking.

The tomb of emperor Minh Mang is an architectural unit comprising several monuments laid out symmetrically.

Upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh city airport, you will be met by another Lotussia local guide and driver and transferred to city center. Free lunch in town.

Today we depart hotel at 8h00 and make our way to My Tho. On arrival we embark on a boat navigating around the intricate small canals to observe the local lifestyle close-up and catch a view dotted by many islands. The exciting excursion will lead us to the famous Unicorn Island where we stroll around an orchard, taste many seasonal fruits and enjoy wonderful traditional music. We continue to Ben Tre Province to visit some fascinating local industries. We meet up with our vehicle for three hour drive to Can Tho, the capital city of the Mekong Delta. Overnight in Can Tho.

Day 15: Cantho – Saigon (B)

The impressive floating market of Rai Rang is a major part of our sightseeing tour in delta region. Upon leaving hotel we set off on a short drive and enjoy a boat trip to explore Cai Rang, whose the trading way is unique; each boat usually sells one particular item, whether it be pumpkins, pineapples, sugar canes. In order that the customer knows where to shop, they hang that item from the highest part of the boat. At the end of the river trip we drive back to Ho Chi Minh. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.

Day 16: Departure (B)

Trekking Pu Luong Nature Reserve and Kayaking Halong Bay in Northern Vietnam (8 days)

Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi. Transfer Airport – Hotel. Overnight in Hanoi.

Arrival at Noi Bai airport via flight ???. You’ll be greeted at the airport by Lotussia local guide and driver then escorted to your hotel in town. Welcome dinner in town. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi – Mai Chau. Half day trek to Sai and Hang villages. Overnight at local hill tribe village.

After breakfast, we will leave Hanoi for Hoa Binh province and up then to Mai Chau valley. This scenic drive takes around four hours. Along the way we pass fields of tapioca and sugar cane as well as rice paddies. Upon arriving in Mai Chau valley, we take a short walk around Lac & Poom Coong villages to have the first experience of the White Thai community local life and their culture. Lunch will be served at local home. We will then leave Mai Chau for a short ride along the Ma river (22km) to Sai village. Off the bus, we begin our trek to Duom and Hang villages. We will trek through outstanding mountain scenery and pituresque rice paddies, see hand-crafted bamboo water wheels, and talk with the lovely local people. Spend the night in a local Thai family’s traditional home on stilts.

Day 3: Full day trek from Hang village to Eo Ken and Kho Muong villages (6 hours). Overnight at local hill tribe village.

After having breakfast with our new Thai friends, we will be walking for a approximately 5 to 6 hours. The first section is hard with some steep climbs and stream crossings. The second stage is glorious with beautiful views of the valley, rice terraces, rich rain forests, and meandering streams. Your picnic lunch will be provided on the way at Eo Ken village. Arrival in Kho Muong village is always special as the setting of the village is perhaps the most beautiful in Vietnam, nestled between steep karst mountains with rice terraces in the afternoon sun. Spend our second night nearby in a typical Thai eco – stilt home in Kho Muong village.

Day 4: Full day trekking from Kho Muong village to Hin village (6 hours). Overnight at local hill tribe village.

After having breakfast, we will trek to Hin village (5 – 6 hours). On this route we will encounter some steep climbs and more stream crossings. Along the way we will visit an incredible cave, only recently discovered, now protected by the Forest Rangers.

The trekking will become more and more remote although one is never that far from a villager tending their fields. Pass steep limestone mountains and curiosty conjuring caves, through the dense rain forests all inside the borders of the Pu Luong Nature Reserve and onto Nua village.

Our picnic lunch will be served in a local house of the village. Then we continue to Hin village of the Thai people. Overnight at Hin village.

Day 5: Trekking from Hin village to Ton village (7 hours). Back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.

Get up early morning if you would like to observe or take part in daily life of the local people. Then breakfast is served by our Thai host family in preparation for a hard but pleasurable trek (6 – 7 hours) through rich and wild rain forests. This challenging hike wanders through the biodiversity of the Pu Luong Nature Reserve. We will have a picnic lunch inside the Pu Luong Nature Reserve, then continuing our trek to Ton village. Our vehicle will picks us up here for our drive back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 6: Hanoi – Halong. Boat cruise. Kayaking. Overnight on boat.

After breakfast, we will depart to Halong. Enjoy the journey through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and everyday Vietnamese village life.

Arrive in Halong around noon and board the Bai Tho traditional sailing junk (or similar junk). Whilst cruising the exquisite waters sample the regions fresh seafood. Visit the recently discovered Surprise Grotto with its great views, and on the next island see the yawning mouth of Bo Nau Cave. Alternatively journey to Dau Go Cave and nearby see the famous stalagmites and stalactites of Thien Cung Cave. Take a kayaking trip to explore the Bay. Watch the sun set over the bay whilst enjoying a delicious dinner. Overnight on board junk.

Day 7: Halong – Hanoi. Cyclo ride. Water puppet show. Overnight in Hanoi.

Enjoy a short cyclo excursion through the bustling old quarter streets named after the specific goods once offered for sales at these places. In the evening, attend to the water puppet show, one of famous Vietnamese traditional art. Overnight in Ha Noi.

Day 8: Hanoi Departure.

Breakfast at hotel. Free time till transfer to the airport for your onward flight back home. End tour.

Trekking North Vietnam Lai Chau Tam Duong Sapa and Kayaking Halong Bay (8 days)

Day 1: Dien Bien Phu – Lai Chau

8h00: A Lotussia Travel guide & driver will meet you at your hotel in Dien Bien Phu and drive then to Lai Chau. Stop en route to visit local hill tribe villages or taking beautiful photographs. Arrival in Laichau town around noon. After lunch (at your own account), start a soft trek to a local village around Lai Chau. Free dinner and overnight in Laichau.

Day 2: Lai Chau – Tam Duong (B)

The picturesque road from Lai Chau to Tam Duong goes along the Chinese Border and the Nam Na River. We visit some Black Thai villages, which are famous by their on-stilts wooden houses. During the way we cross a footbridge leading us to Kh’Mu Village, an important hill-tribe similar to the Laos people in terms of language and traditions. Before arrival in Tam Duong, a stop at Man Tien Village is scheduled. We spend the night in a guest-house in Tam Duong.

Day 3: Tam Duong trekking (B)

Tam Duong is a frontier town situated in a beautiful valley between limestone rocks. This place is the home of many hill tribes such as the H’Mong, Man Tien, Lu and Cu Chu people. Authentic in lifestyle and colorful in costumes, most of the tribes were emigrated from South China during the 17th – 18th century. A full day of trekking through their villages, hidden behind mountains and hills, enables us to learn how self-sufficient life is. A picnic is prepared for lunch. We will continue our trip with visiting a home-run tea factory as the area is famous for its tea plantation. Also this night is spent in the Tam Duong guest-house.

Day 4: Tam Duong – Sapa (B)

This morning we are going to visit the Tam Duong Multi-Ethnic Market, an ideal place to meet local people. Ethnic groups from every part of the region come here to exchange their agricultural and handicraft products. After this interesting experience of interacting with the local people, we make a promenade to Pa Pe, a village of the Lu minority. The people here are famous because of their black teeth. When girls have the age of 10 they have to chew a certain type of plant (growing in the woods) which causes black moisture upon the teeth. Having black teeth is considered as a symbol of beauty in this tribe. After this amazing visit we continue our way to Sapa. Stop at Tram Ton Pass -the highest pass in Vietnam, 1900m, view the heaven gate and large valley and nice Silver Waterfall. We come higher and higher in altitude as we reach Sapa where we spend the night in a hotel.

Day 5: Trekking in Sapa (B)

Sapa is not only an ideal place for retreat with its moderate climate, it is also a place of cultural value and breathtaking mountainous scenery. The town of Sapa is inhabited by colorful hill tribes, which are based on the foot of Fan Xi Pan Mount and other surrounding valleys. Here we spend our whole day trekking around the river of Sapa Valley, crossing suspension bridges and witnessing green rice terraces. During our trek we will again be exposed to local life and the daily activities. We trek up and down and through bamboo forest, see three different ethnic minorities until we stop at a nice waterfall in Giang Ta Chai Village of the Red-Dzao to spend the night in the house of a local family.

Day 6: Sapa – Bac Ha – Lao Cai – Hanoi (B)

Have breakfast and then drive to Bac Ha. During this ride we pass the Chinese border (Lao Cai) where you can get a glimpse of the Chinese town of Hekou, and visit a nice temple there, located just at the other side of the Red River. Bac Ha is situated in the highlands and is mostly populated by the beautifully dressed Flower H’mong minority (famous for its multi-ethnic market). The environment is paved with plum trees. Visit the Sunday market and have lunch in town (at your own account). After lunch, transfer to Coc Ly to take a boat trip on Chay River. After the boat trip, our car and guide drive you back to Laocai station where you will catch the night train to Hanoi. Overnight on train.

Day 7: Hanoi – Ha Long City (L,D)

8h30: A Lotussia Travel car and guide will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi (please inform us your hotel information). Heading out of town we make our way towards Halong Bay, truly one of Vietnam’s most scenic impressive sights. On arrival in Halong we embark on a boat for an exploration of the legendary Halong Bay. Along the trip we learn some kayak orientation and instruction in paddling technique. We begin our first kayaking experience to discover the limestone karst formations which are littered with beaches, grottoes and beautiful caves, and visit one of the many hidden grottoes beneath towering cliffs. At the end of afternoon we return to our escorted boat for relaxation and dinner. The night paddle is available for kayaking fervor. O/N on board

Day 8: Ha Long Bay – Hanoi (B,L)

The views of sailing junks navigating past over 3,000 limestone islands and outcrops jutting out of the clear and emerald water of the bay are nothing short of spectacular. After breakfast on board we continue cruising and make stop for second paddle. We circumnavigate the island, observing some secluded lagoons and enjoying last swimming opportunity. In late morning we regroup at our escorted boat for two hour cruise to Halong Pier. Have a delicious lunch on board before disembarking and return to Hanoi. Upon arrival in Hanoi, transfer to your hotel in town. End of our services.

The city tour includes such sights as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature – The first National University of Vietnam.

In the afternoon, continue to visit the Ethnology museum where you can find the biggest object collection of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups. In the evening, transfer to Hanoi Railways Station for taking the night train to Lao Cai. Departure at around 20h30. Overnight on the train.

Day 3: Arrival in Laocai. Transfer to Sapa. Full day trekking.

Upon your arrival in Lao Cai Railway Station early in the morning, you will be greeted by another Lotussia Travel local guide and driver and transferred uphill to Sapa. Your breakfast will be provided at a local restaurant in town. Then, transfer downhill to Sin Chai village of Black Hmong minority, which locates right at the foot of Hoang Lien mountain range. Here you start heading up the mountain. Once you get to the top, you will trek on a small trail with spectacular view and then gradually descend to Cat Cat village, where you will have lunch nearby a waterfall. In the after noon, you take a trail sneaking through mountain. You also will enjoy spectacular scenery while walking along a narrow river you eventually arrive in Y Linh Ho village of Black Hmong minority, where you can take a rest in a nice spot nearby the beautiful river. You will stay overnight in Y Linh Ho, due to season it can be in local house or in tent camp.

Day 4: Full day trekking.

Today’s trek will continue along Hoang Lien mountain range, which offers you many opportunities to
enjoy view over huge rice paddy terraces in Muong Hoa valley, the largest one in the area. After having lunch at a nice spot, you descend into the bottom of the valley. You will pass through Lao Chai village of Black Hmong minority and then Tavan village of Giay minority by following a very popular trekking route. You spend the night in a traditional house of Giay minority. You will be able to take a walk to enjoy the valley view as well as swim in the river nearby.

Day 5: Full day trekking. Transfer to laocai for night train back to Hanoi. Overnight on the train.

Today’s trek is short, but still the landscape is beautiful. Once you get energy for your last day trek
after having breakfast, you leave for Giang Ta Chai village where you can take a rest nearby a
waterfall to enjoy the surroundings. You will continue trough a bamboo forest, and when you have
passed the forest we find a nice place to enjoy lunch. After lunch the walk continues through a bamboo forest to Giang Ta Chai, a Red Dao ethnic minority village. After taking a rest nearby a waterfall to refresh, you continue on a small trail towards Supan where your car is waiting for the journey back to Sapa, and then to Laocai. Take the night train to Hanoi. Overnight on the train.

Day 6: Arrival in Hanoi. Hanoi – Halong Bay. Kayaking.

Upon your early arrival in Hanoi Railways station, you will be greeted by another Lotussia Travel guide and transferred to a local restaurant for early breakfast. Then depart to Halong. Enjoy the journey through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and everyday Vietnamese village life.

Day 3: Arrive Lao Cai. Travel to Sapa. Trekking Tram Ton – Sin Chai (B,L,D).

Arrive Lao Cai Railway Station early this morning. You will be picked up by Lotussia Travel local team and transferred to Sapa.

Breaffast will be provided in a local restaurant in town.

Transfer to Silver Waterfall where you will be able to take a short walk to the waterfall. You will then drive further to Heaven Gate, the highest peak of roads in Vietnam. From there you can see Fansipan, the highest peak of Indochina mountains as well as enjoy stunning views. We start descending nearby the waterfall. The trail takes you all the way downhill through bamboo forest, which belongs to Hoang Lien National Park.

Your lunch will be served at a nice spot nearby a river.

After lunch, you continue the trek to Sin Chai village of Black Hmong minority, where Community Based Tourism in Sapa takes place. You will have opportunity to explore daily life of one of the largest group ethnic minorities in Sapa area.

Day 4: Trekking Sin Chai – Cat Cat – Y Linh Ho (B,L,D)

After having breakfast, you start heading up the mountain. Once you get to the top, you will trek on a small trail with spectacular view and then gradually descend to Cat Cat village, where you will have lunch nearby a waterfall.
